Sleazy Greetings found the perfect partner for rapid growth

When in-person interactions between friends and family became too risky during the coronavirus pandemic, the greeting card industry experienced a surge in sales. Suddenly everyone seemed to want to send a personal message to their loved ones both near and far. The gravity of the events of 2020 often made lighthearted, jovial cards more popular to help take the edge off of current affairs. Fortunately, Denver-based Sleazy Greetings was prepared to meet this demand thanks to an innovative partnership with Core Print & Packaging.

Where a Great Printing Partnership Starts

“I approached them right before the pandemic began. It was that February and I was searching for places that could produce my greeting cards,” said Nathaniel Treichler, Founder of Sleazy Greetings, which creates fun and often bawdy novelty cards and gifts. “The brand was really taking off and a lot of the print places we were working with were taking too long. We needed someone nearby who could meet our demand.”

The challenge for Sleazy Greetings is being able to produce merchandise quickly on demand when orders are needed. When forced to wait, customers often look elsewhere or fail to order at all. If a print job takes a week or more, Sleazy Greetings loses business.

“I needed 300 cards done in a day and called Kelly at Core to inquire if they could get the job done,” Nathaniel said. “And of course she said yes, we can get it done.”

That initial quick-turnaround job created an ongoing relationship. But very quickly, working with Kelly and the rest of the Core team, Nathaniel and his crew found the perfect turnkey solution. Core’s nearby location made the partnership all the sweeter when Sleazy decided to move all of the greeting card line’s operations to Core. Today, Core Print & Packaging manages all of Sleazy Greeting’s card business in-house, handling everything from printing the cards to packaging them and managing the entire fulfillment process.

“They have basically helped me build my $10,000-a-month wholesale base within the last four months,” Nathaniel said. “All throughout Covid they were my go-to place to get my greeting cards printed and packaged. My entire wholesale base was built under their roof with their printing and packaging on demand. I haven’t touched a card for shipping or fulfillment in months.”

Sleazy Greetings has grown to be featured in more than 150 retail stores across the United States, much of which occurred through Core Print & Packaging, according to Nathaniel. Today, Sleazy is expanding its product line to include posters, caps, notebooks, tote bags and other gift items. 

“They kick butt for us and they’re really friendly too,” Nathaniel said. “They always make time for me to answer questions or talk about pricing. They are basically helping us plan out the next steps of our business.”
